The Bardstown Bourbon Company is an ultra-modern operation from the Bourbon Capital of the World, Bardstown, Kentucky.

They pride themselves on keeping true to tradition, yet taking innovative and bold steps in producing exceptional bourbon, whiskey, and rye.

The distillery is set on a 100-acre stretch of farmland that is a part of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and offers a full experience with tours, as well as a complete restaurant in the form of the Bottle & Bond Kitchen and Bar.

With only a glass wall separating the dinery from the distillery, visitors can observe the process of spirit making while enjoying quality meals, whiskeys, and cocktails.

The Prisoner is a collaboration between Bardstown Bourbon Company and The Prisoner Wine Company from California.

They have taken their 9-year-old Tennessee Bourbon, crafted from a mash bill of 84% corn, 8% rye, and 8% malted barley, then gave it an additional 18 months of aging in French oak barrels that used to hold The Prisoner red wine.

While Bardstown Bourbon Company are no strangers to similar partnerships, this is their biggest yet. “The Prisoner Wine Company’s ethos is rooted in collaboration. […] We strive to do things differently and it’s exciting that our namesake wine will add to the mystique of this new bourbon,” says Director of Winemaking Chrissy Wittmann of The Prisoner Wine Co.

The nose is complex and rich with fruity wine, blackberry, and cherries, as well as honey, vanilla, toffee, and cinnamon notes. Nuts and oak shine through on the palate and a well-balanced sweetness lingers all the way through the finish.
What is the whiskey capital of Kentucky?
Bardstown
Kentucky is known for its bourbon, and probably nowhere in the state is there more of it than in Bardstown, the self-described Bourbon Capital of the World. There are 11 bourbon distilleries within 16 miles of downtown Bardstown, located about 55 miles southwest of Frankfort, the capital.
Who started Bardstown?
The founders — Peter Loftin, David Mandell, Daniel Linde, and Garnett Black — began the Bardstown, Ky., operation with the idea of offering a “destination experience” for bourbon lovers and building a custom distilling program that now creates over 50 unique mash bills for more than 30 spirits brands in the industry
