About The Dalmore 40 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
The Dalmore distillery has set the standard for multi-cask maturation and Richard Peterson, Master Distiller for over 50 decades is the man who probably knows more about casks and single malts than anyone else in the world.
The 2022 release of the Dalmore 40-Year-Old Single Malt Whiskey is a star of that process, a prime example of what a single cask can bring to the final profile.
This stunning single malt started its maturation journey in American white oak ex-bourbon casks before transitioning to 30-year-old Gonzalez Byass Matusalem Oloroso sherry butts where it spent the next seven years.
This gloriously sherried spirit was then combined with a single malt that, after its initial maturation phase in ex-Bourbon casks, spent a good amount of years in rare Graham’s Port Colheita casks from 1970. The two liquids were given some time to acquaint themselves before this single malt was bottled at an ABV of 42%.
This is a high-end Single Malt where Sherry, Port, Bourbon, and Scotch all join in a deeply indulgent, unbelievably smooth, and incredibly complex flavored spirit. The presentation of the bottle is as polished as this release deserves.
